to INFLUENCE an individual or group towards
an identified goal often against a common adversary.
The means of Influence can come in many forms, as can The Target and The Adversary. Influencing could be threats, enticements, the desire to not be the one to mess up, the desire to impress or the desire to want to please(or not displease) someone who carries an inherent value.
The Goal is a clear and defined target, with a shared understanding of the benefits of achievment as well as the consequences of falling short.
The Adversary could be a competitor, a deadline, a sales quota or any number of things to provide the friction and reflection in which leadership can be revealed.
Therefore, LEADERSHIP = Influence +Goal - Adversary.
